CORINTH, Miss. — President Donald Trump took the stage in Corinth, Mississippi, for a campaign rally supporting Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith as midterm elections draw near.

Addressing the crowd in a hoarse voice, Trump focused on reversing the historical trend where the incumbent president’s party generally loses seats during midterm contests. He claimed his active presence on the campaign trail has significantly altered the political discourse around the races.

“For some reason, presidents don’t do well in the midterm, no matter how good they are, even if they’re great, like us,” Trump told the audience. “But I will say, nobody has ever campaigned—nobody’s ever campaigned like I have for midterms.”

During his address, Trump emphasized economic themes, repeating claims that the United States is undergoing a “golden age” of prosperity. His speech did not touch upon high inflation rates or elevated gasoline prices, issues associated with tariffs on imported goods and conflict with Iran.

Before the event got underway, Democratic Senate candidate Scott Colom campaigned outside the venue, engaging directly with rallygoers waiting in line to enter the arena.
