England captain Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d’Or on Monday, becoming the first English player to claim world football’s most prestigious individual award in 25 years.
The Bayern Munich striker earned the honor following an extraordinary 2025โ2026 season, during which he netted 61 goals in 51 matches across all competitions for the German club.
A Historic Season for Club and Country
Kane’s prolific goalscoring helped power Bayern Munich to a domestic double, securing both the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal.
On the international stage, the forward led England to the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup, hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Kane scored six goals throughout England’s tournament run.
Kane’s victory marks a milestone in his career and brings the trophy back to England for the first time since former forward Michael Owen won the award in 2001.
